One Word to Live Your 2020

In September we discussed our ONE WORD. It was a single word you chose to live by this school year, like a goal for life. Some chose to focus on their education, others their outside interests, and many a word that focused on an overall goal. We see this one word every single day as they hang in our classroom.

Well, with it being the first month of the year, I thought it would be appropriate to go back and revisit this single word. How are you doing with your goal? Are you showing more confidence? Have you met your goal? Did you forget all about it and need to refocus? Think about this ONE WORD you chose and re-evaluate your feelings and ambitions. Tell us how you’ve done, how you plan to move forward with this goal, or do you need to focus your energy in a different area? It is important in life to reflect on your goals, alter your plans or make new plans. I look forward to hearing what your plans are next week.

Well I think I just forgot about my One Word and I needed to refocus and start again. But then, I realized I never forgot about my one word. Here are the things I did ACHIEVE:

1.I got a great Progress Report Card.
2.Even though we didn’t get our science projects marks back, I think I did well.
    3.My book talk went well.
4.I nearly made the volleyball team.

So here are things I did achieve and I will keep focusing on my One Word.

  2. My one word is improve, which has not been doing well. A few things I haven't been doing well are: Getting out of my seat and screaming (which has been dealt with) and drawing during class. Things I have been doing good with my one word are: focusing on my work, not getting out of my seat and screaming (anymore). This year in 2020 I will improve by working harder and focusing more and listening to my teacher. The subjects I need to improve on are math and science

  3. I have forgot all about my goal but with all the work I have done good on it. But now I’m going to not stop here. I am going to now start working on confidence. I think I should work on this because I don’t like trying new things and when ever I have a check-in coming up I stress that I’m not going to be good annouth on it. But I need to just keep telling myself you can do it.

I have done very well with one word tough I have been doing my best. I have achieved my goals. I am starting to be more tough aching my goals. But sometimes I do not care about my one word so I want to focus more on my one word.

The one word I had chosen was ‘Practice’. I have not thought specifically about my word, although I have been doing well with it. I had made the Jr. Girls Volleyball practice team and I do practise a lot, even when we don’t have volleyball practice. So I can be better at volleyball and hopefully make the Jr. Girls Volleyball team next year. In my one word writing piece I also included that I would try my best to make the Jr. Girls Basketball team (and if there is a Jr. Girls Soccer team then that too) by practising as much as I can and improving as much as I can. I have indeed practised a lot for basketball and soccer, hoping to achieve my goal. I also have prepared well for my book talk (but I wasn’t able to present it last week because I was sick and couldn’t come to school) and believe I will do good on it if I get a chance to present it this week. My one word ‘Practise’ has also been used in my academic studies, especially in math. I have also been practicing to bake, and believe I am much better now then I was before. So overall, I have used one word much more than I thought. I haven’t exactly met my specific goal for my one word - to make to Jr. Girls Basketball team - because it hasn’t started yet. I am sure that I will make the team when we do have tryouts if I practise as much as I can and do my best… and never quit!

  6. So, my One Word I had chosen this year, was concentrate. I forgot about my goal, so I haven’t been that concentrated lately, so, I want to refocus and just, concentrate on my goal. So, I do have another word that I want to focus on as well, and that word is….confidence. I am very shy when I’m around new people or if I’m presenting something, so I want to work on my confidence as well and also on my One Word concentrate. Well, I haven’t really forgotten my goal, I still try to concentrate on my work and get done as much as I can at school and at home, because sometimes, I try to work or think of what to write but then I just drift off while I’m thinking.

And that’s the end of my blog post!!!

OK, my one word was strive and i think I've been going pretty good with the academic part of it i got good grades but also part of my one word was to not shout out when the teacher is talking or not to make inappropriate comments when i really just don't need to say them. i think that i am capable of doing this i and will try to. honestly, I haven't been thinking my word (strive) specifically but I have thought about my goals and what i can do to achieve them and what plan I need to accomplish that. The one that i am most proud of actually, is not the academic part of it but my organization. my desk last year used to be a disaster. my old teacher called a "black hole". so I made a plan to achieve this. i decided every week on Tuesday i would clean out my desk now, i sure have improved. so i'm just going to try to not shout out and i think i'll be good.

  8. My one word is focused,I don't really know if I achieved this goal. I can be focused sometimes but on the other hand i cant at the same time. But hopefully this year i can be more focused, and not get off task.I do sometimes get really focused but.I get distracted easily as well.

  9. So my word is practice. 10. My word is Accomplish. I'm not sure if I achieved my goal but I am definitely going to try even harder. So Sometimes I don’t focus too hard, so I think I am going to focus again. I am going to get better and try harder to accomplish my goal!

  11. My one word was patience, I have accomplished last years goal. How I know that I have accomplished last years goal is because I wait for the teacher to come like when the french teacher comes in the portable everybody is screaming or out of their seat. I read or just sit down. That is how I accomplished my goal of " Patience". Now I am going to start working on "Responsibility" because I forget my family math and different things.

  12. Patience is not all about waiting but it’s mostly about how you have hope while your waiting. Patience was the word I chose for my one word for 2020. I’ll just tell you why I chose that word since I didn't get the chance. My parents taught me how to be patient, and so I tried it. Everytime I get older I get harder things to be patient with. So what I’m trying to say is that I’ve tried being patient almost my whole life and it always worked, so I knew if I just waited and hoped then my dreams would come true.
Now, to answer the question for my blog post: Yes, this word is working out really well since I already have tried it a million times so I'm hoping my wishes come true this year. And no, I have not forgotten about my word, because whenever I’m sad or something was getting me jealous because I don't have it, I always remember the word patience.

  13. The word I picked to help me this year was Strive. I've tried to achieve my goal this year but if I'm being truthful I haven't been but I haven't done it to my full potential. I know I can do better to achieve my goal.
So far it has been going well but I have to give some extra effort to achieve my goal.I didn't forget about my word. Whenever I'm slacking behind I always remember my word. The word strive means to make an effort to obtain or achieve something and that is what I'm going to be doing for the rest of the year and I'm going to put that extra effort that I need and if I still need some more effort or need to push I push harder.

  14. So my word this goal i have achieved and I will tell you why. My word was brave and I have become brave by coming over my fear of heights. I did that by helping myself to sit next to the window seat. I looked down again and again and in the end I was not scared anymore.

  15. The word I picked is better, because to do better at my school work that is do my work and don’t talk to the people behind me. Do my work so at the end I don’t rush my work and get my questions wrong. While playing hockey I drive to the net better chances for goals and get open and pass and I am doing better in hockey and feel I’m doing better in school.

THE word i picked was Attentive. Why i chose this word is so i could get more focused. This word has helped me a lot because before when the teacher or anybody was talking i start thinking about other thing but remembering the word attentive has made me much more focused so know i know what to do and when to do it. That is how the word attentive has helped me become much more focused!

  17. My one word is Brave and even though I did forget about it still is pretty much done. Now I personally think I am Brave so it's time to maybe choose a new one word for this year. From now on my new one word will be intention. Intention can be a feeling describing how nothing can push you away from your goal.Like Intention to ace your math test or Intention to score one goal in lacrosse.Like You just NEED to do it. This word works very well with your goals because goals is PART of it. It's two and two together. I've already been Brave, Worked harder in math but there is still more goals left. And that's why Intention will help make 2020 the best year ever!!!

  18. My one word is Patience and i did forget about it a little, but I still have some patience and I am still working on it.Patience has helped me focus on what others are saying and not interrupt them!I have a lot of confidence now and I listen to what others are saying. That is what I learned when i re-visited my one word.

  19. My word was practice and I think I have done it because every time I have tried something new I practiced to get better at it such as every new subject in school or practiced my reading stamina.Last year surprisingly I liked reading but my stamina was bad so it was hard to read long books like Harry Potter but I have practiced and got better.zain

  20. I think I need to do a new word.I think I need to do concentrate because when ever someone is doing a project I get distracted.so the goals for me to do this is not to play with things.when or if my friends try to talk to me I need to ignore them and keep listening to the teacher/student and that’s my new goal for 2020!

  21. My word should be achieve
To get better at my subjects and i got really good at math the most
And got better at presenting a little bit more also at reading more books and chapter books and less comic books
So this year I have achieved more than last year
